The Thai government will contact the Cambodian government about extradition of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra, who was scheduled to visit Cambodia on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said on Monday.
Mr Suthep said it is not beyond expectation that Thaksin was going to visit Cambodia.
He also said that requesting extradition of Thaksin is not loosing face because the government is doing it for the country, and it is up to the Cambodian government what it would do after the request.
A diplomatic channel would be used if the two countries do not understand each other.
He reiterated that this is a problem between the two governments, not that of individuals. And the government is not using the country to seek revenge between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
