Cambodian ambassador to Thailand on Monday 13th had sent a diplomatic note to the Thai Foreign Ministry to remove a video clip from the Thai Prime Minister's official website that claims parts of Cambodia were actually lost Thai territories.

The diplomatic note stressed that whoever posted the video clip have done it with the intention to incite hatred among the people of the two countries. the note also stated the vidoe clip will negatively impact on the relationships between the two nations.

In a video clip posted at the Thai Prime Minister's official website, ilovethailand.org, the narrator claimed that Cambodia's Siem Rap, Battambang and Preah Vihear temple were parts of Thai territories lost to Cambodia.

According to Deum Ampil, the diplomatic note also stated that the facts of history is that Cambodia was the one who lost large territories to Thailand from its mighty Khmer Empire in the 12th century.

According to historical records, the Cambodian provinces of Siem Reap, Battambang, Sirisophon and Preah Vihear were annexed by Thailand- then known as Siam- in 1794. These provinces were only returned to Cambodian control under the Franco-Siamese Treaty in 1907.

Other Cambodian provinces annexed by Thailand in the late 18th century were Kauk Khan (Sisaket), Surin, Sakeo, Trat, Buriram, Nokor Reach (Korat) and many more.

At the time of this article going to press, there are reports that the video clip at the centre of the controversy has been removed from the ilovethailand.org website.

Thai PM was born in UK and educated in UK . Thai King was born in US and educated in US. What do you expect from these Thai leaders never born in Thailand to know the truth of Khmer-Thai history since they don't even know who they are, where their Thai root coming from.
Thais lied to themselves that they are the native living in Southeast Asia and created Khmer Civilization in Southeast Asia. At one point, Thais forgot that their Thai tonal speaking originated from Nanchao (Yunnan) from China East Asia. Thais don't look at Thai culture and question why Thai tonal speaking from China has Khmer culture instead of having Chinese culture?
If Thais would respect Khmers, I am sure Khmers would appreciate Thai very much, but Thais choose to be hated by Khmers by twisting history and refused to admit
the truth that because of Khmer people that Thais could have a Kingdom, beautiful Khmer temples, Khmer alphabets, Khmer vowels and Khmer numerals in Thailand today.
