Anti-graft Panel Delays Ruling on Preah Vihear Case
The anti-graft panel has not brought up the case of the Samak Sundaravej administration's support to Cambodia's move to list the ancient Preah Vihear temple as a World Heritage for consideration after some flaws have been found in the case file.
Member of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, or NACC, Somluk Chudkrabuanpol, who is responsible for the malfeasance case against Cabinet members of the Samak government, said that the case was not brought up for consideration at the panel's meeting today.
Ministers of the Samak administration were accused of malfeasance and dereliction of duty after the Cabinet decided to support the Cambodian government's proposal to list Preah Vihear as a World Heritage site.
Somluk revealed that although the anti-graft panel has questioned Council of State Secretary-General Pornthip Jala, the last witness in the case, the case file will need to be revised, particularly on details of each of the accused's testimony.
He said the revision will help facilitate the NACC's proceeding of the case.
Somluk went on to say that the revision should be finished soon and then be brought up to the anti-graft panel's meeting for a ruling by September.
