Thai soldiers shot unarmed Cambodian migrant workers

A Cambodian police officer based at Tropeang Prasat district in Banteay Meanchey and land border police from Border Unit 905, said Thai soldiers based opposite border post Preah Prolay opened fires three times on a group of about 30-50 Cambodian migrant workers crossing to work in Thailand and seriously wounding one person.

The same officer said this group of Cambodian migrant workers were hired by a Thai logging company to collect ready fell trees on top of Dangrek Mountains, when a group of Thai soldiers from Batallion 964 sprayed many rounds of ammunitions toward the group seriously wounding one person but he was rescued by fellow travellers and now has been treated at Anlong Veng Hospital. According to Reaksmei Kampuchea newspaper, eleven people had been arrested by the Thai soldiers while 35 others had escaped back to Cambodia.

According to Bangkok Post report, the 11 people arrested were accused of illegally tree-felling in Thai territory.
